TATTOO AFTERCARE

SECOND SKIN TATTOO AFTERCARE

This aftercare method is used when the tattoo is covered with a second skin film. Please follow the instructions below carefully to ensure proper healing and the best final result.

WHILE WEARING THE SECOND SKIN
  • During the healing period (up to 4 weeks), avoid baths, saunas, solariums, swimming pools, and open bodies of water.
  • Showering is allowed. While the film is on, avoid hot showers and baths: you may take a quick warm or cool shower.
  • Do not damage or remove the film. Do not pierce it and do not press out any bubbles. In the first days, a small amount of pigment or fluid under the film is normal.
  • Wear loose, breathable clothing and avoid tight garments that may rub against the tattoo.
  • Avoid sports and intense physical activity while wearing the film to prevent sweating and friction.

REMOVING THE FILM
  • Wear the second skin for 5 days (minimum - 3 days).
  • On the fifth day, you may remove the film. Gently lift one corner and slowly pull the film away from your body, keeping it low and close to the skin. Do not rush.

AFTER REMOVING THE FILM
  • Wash the tattoo with warm water and a neutral pH soap. Baby soap or intimate hygiene soap is suitable. Wash gently by hand - do not use a washcloth or sponge. Pat the area dry with a clean towel.
  • Apply a thin layer of moisturizing cream to the tattoo 3-7 times a day, depending on how your skin feels. If the skin feels dry or tight, it is time to apply cream. Over-moisturizing is not possible.
  • After a few days, the tattoo may begin to peel - this is normal. Do not rub or peel the skin manually. Continue moisturizing until peeling stops.
  • After the tattoo has fully healed, always protect it from the sun and apply SPF 50+ sunscreen.
If the film comes off earlier than expected, breaks, or if you notice unusual redness, swelling, or discomfort, please contact me.
Proper aftercare is essential. My role is to create a strong, well-executed tattoo; how it heals and how it looks over time depends on consistent and careful aftercare.

Once the tattoo is fully healed (usually after 4–5 weeks) and the skin has stopped peeling and shining, I would really appreciate it if you could send me a photo of the healed tattoo.

HEALING WITHOUT SECOND SKIN

Classic healing method using a protective bandage, healing ointment, and daily care
This method requires regular attention and careful hygiene during the healing process. Please follow the instructions below closely.

If you choose the classic healing method, please bring the following items to your session: disposable baby pads, hypoallergenic medical tape (nylon, in a roll), and a tattoo aftercare cream, which can be purchased at a pharmacy.

HOW EVERYTHING WORKS
  • Wash your hands thoroughly, remove the bandage, and gently wash the tattoo under cool or lukewarm running water using a neutral pH soap (baby soap or intimate hygiene soap is suitable). Wash by hand only, without a washcloth or sponge.
  • Carefully pat the skin dry with a clean towel, apply a thin layer of healing ointment, and cover the tattoo with a clean baby pad, securing it with medical tape. The pad should extend a few centimeters beyond the tattoo edges to protect the skin and prevent shifting.
  • Repeat washing, ointment application, and bandaging until the baby pad remains clean and no longer collects skin secretions. Once secretions stop, the bandage can be discontinued. Use the healing ointment only until the tattoo begins to peel. Once peeling starts, the healing ointment is no longer necessary and you can switch to a regular moisturizing cream. At this stage, the goal is to keep the skin well hydrated so it can peel naturally and evenly.
  • Apply cream 3-7 times a day, or whenever the skin feels dry or tight.
  • Flaking and itching are normal. Do not scratch, rub, or peel the skin.

CLOTHING, WATER & PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
  • For the entire healing period (about 4 weeks), wear loose, breathable cotton clothing and avoid tight garments that may rub or irritate the tattoo.
  • You may shower, but for the first 2 weeks avoid steaming the skin - no hot showers or baths.
  • For 4 weeks, avoid baths, saunas, solariums, swimming pools, and open bodies of water.
  • Avoid the gym and intense physical activity for 2 weeks after the session.

FINAL HEALING & SUN PROTECTION
  • Complete healing usually takes around 4–5 weeks.
  • Once peeling has stopped and the skin no longer looks shiny, I kindly ask you to send me a photo of the healed tattoo.
  • After healing, always protect your tattoo from sun exposure and apply SPF 50+ sunscreen.

Please take the healing process seriously.
My job is to create a strong, high-quality tattoo - how it heals and how it looks long-term depends largely on aftercare.
